The Retail Job
As the servant of the retail franchise Allmart, players of The Retail Job must navigate the daily horrors of a full-time store employee, with the goal of not getting fired without going insane. The Retail Job gives players clear insight into the fatally flawed system of monopolistic retail by allowing players to select one of the given decisions to answer the coordinating prompts. But, players can never win, for they will always remain a pawn in the corporate game of profit maximization. Players either remain in an endless cycle of decisions, or they get fired. This cycle highlights the real constraints of monopolistic retail by showing players how non-college-educated low-wage retail workers can never move up the corporate ladder.
